This view brings together two of the great mountain groups of the southern Highlands, with Stob Ghabhar dominating the foreground and the peaks of Ben Cruachan rising beyond. Between them lies Glen Kinglass, cutting a deep route west towards Loch Etive and giving a real sense of the scale and separation between the two ranges. I’ve always thought this viewpoint would be transformed by winter, with snow picking out the ridges, corries and broken rock, and it’s somewhere I’d like to return to when the mountains are properly white.
