Rannoch Moor

Fifty square miles of bog, lochan and peat, Rannoch Moor is regularly described as the last true wilderness in Britain — traversed only by the A82 and the West Highland Railway, with nothing to break the horizon for miles in any direction. The mood here depends entirely on the light: on a clear day it lifts the spirit; under cloud it is something altogether wilder. One of the most elemental landscapes in Europe.
