The heavily glaciated Torridonian giants of Ben Alligin, Beinn Eighe and Liathach are considered to be some of the finest mountains in Britain. These seemingly impenetrable sandstone 'castles' sit in proud isolation, rising steeply from an ancient bedrock of Lewisian gneiss that dates back to around three thousand million years. This photograph shows the view north from Mullach an Rathain, the western summit of Liathach that overlooks Beinn Eighe and the Flowerdale Forest.
