Loch Quoich stretches 8 miles/13.5 kilometres, straight into the heart of the rough bounds of Knoydart. Because of the huge natural rainfall catchment in this area the loch was dammed in 1956 and used as the main storage reservoir for the Garry Hydro Scheme. The waters were forced upwards of over 100 feet/30 metres, displacing a number of settlements and creating a completely new shoreline within this land of mountain and flood.
