Moonrise over Loch Etive

As I climbed higher above Loch Etive, I became increasingly doubtful that the photograph I had planned would work. Cloud was gathering around the surrounding mountains, and the chances of seeing the rising moon seemed to be slipping away. Then, just as the last of the evening light was falling across the hills, a fortunate break in the cloud revealed the moon rising above the loch. It was one of those fleeting moments in landscape photography when the conditions finally come together, despite every indication that they wouldn't.
