The Photograph

Loch Coruisk

Hasselblad XPan 30mm

Loch Coruisk lies deep in the heart of the Black Cuillin and is one of Scotland's truly wild places. It is almost completely enclosed on all sides and as a result is best viewed from the summit of Sgurr na Stri. At 1,630 feet this remote peak is small in stature compared to its illustrious neighbours but it offers unsurpassed views of the loch and the entire Cuillin ridge. There are several adventurous routes to it. For my third attempt at this image I opted for the shorter but more strenuous 5-mile trek from Kilmarie via Camasunary Bay.
