To the photographer, the autumn colours of the silver birch are always a welcome sight, boldly announcing an end to the monotonous palette of green that plagues the summer landscape. Although strong in colour, their small triangular leaves are particularly delicate and vulnerable when exposed to the winds. So, after a week of typical autumnal weather that saw two major storm systems consecutively hit the North West, I was a little apprehensive on returning to this position above Loch Clair and was pleasantly surprised to see enough foliage had survived.
