The Isle of Rum, once known as the Forbidden Isle is actually the eroded vestiges of an ancient super volcano that formed 60 million years ago. Relentless glaciations and constant weathering has produced one of the most distinctive mountain profiles on the Western seaboard. The Rum Cuillin is a spectacular and intricate traverse composed from a number of summits the highlight being the two Corbetts of Ainshval and Askival.
