When I left the car in Glen Etive it was a sparkling winter morning, without a cloud in the sky. Much of the ascent of Stob Coire an Albannaich was spent deep in the shadow of the enormous corries beneath Glas Bheinn Mhòr, before I finally emerged into the winter sun. By then the weather was already beginning to change, with cloud quickly forming and drifting around the surrounding summits. Within a remarkably short time, the clear morning had given way to something altogether more atmospheric.
