Ben Lui (1,130m) is often called the Queen of Scottish Mountains, and few mountains south of the Great Glen command such presence. Its distinctive shape makes it instantly recognisable from any angle. This photograph contains no fewer than eight Munros, stretching across a landscape completely transformed by winter. Being up here in conditions like these, with the mountains laid out in every direction, is quite simply why I do it.
