The very last traces of a summer sunset colour the south-western sky above Ben Cruachan, seen across the water from the Isle of Lismore. Lying in Loch Linnhe, Lismore is a long, narrow island with a landscape of fertile fields, scattered woodland and low limestone hills, quite different from the rugged mountains of the mainland.
