I climbed Beinn an Dòthaidh in the dark that morning to be on the summit for sunrise. The conditions were so good that I decided to stay for sunset as well. That might sound like a very long day on a mountain, but in January the hours between the two aren't quite as daunting as they sound. This view looks across Rannoch Moor towards Stob Ghabhar and the Black Mount, with the great Bidean nam Bian massif beyond, as a front of cloud began moving in from the north towards the end of the day. First man up, last man down. You don't get many winter days like this in Scotland, so when one comes along it seems only right to make the most of it.
